Overview

SyMRI uses an MR acquisition sequence on the MR scanner that generates a range of different MR images in a scan time of 5-7 minutes. Using a physical model that includes knowledge of the scanner details and tissue properties the images are converted to MR quantification maps which are an absolute measure for the physical properties of the patients. Based on these properties a whole range of conventional images can be recreated with scanner settings of choice. The technique, Synthetic MRI, provides a faster examination time and more flexible and robust image handling. Additionally the properties are used to segment the anatomy into various tissue types. This technique, Synthetic Tissue Mapping, delivers tissue characterization and volume estimation for quantitative patient follow-up. Advantages using SyMRI:

Radiologists will have more extensive decision support and fewer patient recalls.
Referring clinicians receive quicker replies with more extensive information for treatment management.
Patients get reduced examination time and faster follow-up.
Nurses will run a standardized, low number of scans.
